When people hear that a car runs on water, you can be sure that heads will turn. With the ever-increasing price of oil, the cost of filling a tank with petrol or gasoline is bound to keep rising. Now, a technology that is over 90 years old is coming back in a big way. The promise: a car runs on water. The reality: it really does!
Most of us know that water is H2O, two parts hydrogen and one part oxygen. In technical terms that's two hydrogen atoms bonded closely to one oxygen atom to make a single molecule of water.
What most of do not know is that it is possible, through a simple process, to produce a gas from water called HHO. HHO, or oxyhydrogen, is the secret sauce (or gas) in action when a car runs on water.
Understand though, that the car is also burning gasoline; it isn't running on HHO alone. However, the miles per gallon that you get will suddenly shoot up. For example, if you were getting 30 miles to the gallon before installing the equipment that allows your car to run on water, or HHO gas, then after installing it you could expect your mileage to double, or even triple.
It should be obvious that the potential savings in gasoline prices is considerable. There's talk of the prices at the fuel pumps going up to $10 a gallon in the USA – it's already that in the UK! Imagine though that you could make that $10, or whatever it is, go twice as far as before. That's exactly what happens when a car runs on water!
Overnight you can turn back the clock to the 1960s when running a car was cheap and easy. No need to think of small engines and compact cars in order to be able to afford the luxury of driving. Even a big car becomes cheap to run again when a car runs on water, and it really is within your grasp too.
It's been estimated that, pound for pound, HHO is three times more powerful than gasoline alone. When HHO is used in conjunction with a little gasoline, the power potential becomes even greater. Unlike gasoline alone, the waste product of the gasoline and HHO mixture is mainly water. You can't get much more environmentally friendly than that.
The trouble with cars that run purely on hydrogen is storage. Hydrogen is a highly inflammable gas, and it can be very dangerous to store. The system used when a car runs on water has the hydrogen generated on demand. There is no large amount of the gas in storage at any time. It gets burned almost as soon as it is generated. This reduces any danger risk to almost zero.
Maybe you are thinking that you will have to carry an extra fuel tank just for the water. No, that is not necessary. One litre of water can create 1,866 litres of HHO gas. That's enough for almost 1,000 miles of driving. It could be enough for a month, so you certainly do not need to store large amounts of water. As you can see, when a car runs on water, with a little gasoline mixed in, driving can become fun again – and considerably less threatening to the planet at the same time.

That is an urban myth that reached its peak with Stanley Meyer who claimed that he drove one hundred miles using only four ounces of water (he was later convicted of fraud). BMW hopes to release a hydrogen car to the public by 2008 (or 2010 at the latest) and other manufacturers like Toyota are also making plans to release hydrogen car lines. Of course the debate over using hydrogen in cars is still raging and nothing has been settled yet. |
